Developmental Studies
Developmental Studies Newsletter
The mission of the Developmental Studies department is to provide students with foundational skills necessary to be successful in college, employment, and lifelong learning.
Beginning in fall 2009, the DS department implemented several new strategies designed to increase the success of students enrolled in developmental courses. The strategies were designed to promote early connections, high expectations, and provide academic support to increase student success and retention. Several curricular and pedagogical reforms were developed which include 1) increased support and mentors for adjunct faculty, 2) the use of unified texts, tests, and pacing guides for all courses, 3) the utilization of academic coaches, and 4) the creation of student success teams.
