POSITION:  Surgical Technology Department Manager

 

STARTING SALARY:   Full-time positions offers a competitive starting salary and a comprehensive benefits.  Actual starting salary may be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCECredentials in the field of surgical technology (CST)  through  a national credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Current minimum of three (3) of the past five years of  operating room experience in scrub role and/or  as an instructor in surgical technology. An Associate Degree or higher.  PREFERRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Experience training as an educator. Classroom, lab and clinical teaching experience. Experience in program accreditation.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   Knowledge of basic word processing and keyboard activities. Knowledge of administrative principle. Communication skills to interact verbally and in written form with students, peers, administration, general public and the health care community. Supervisory skills required. Ability to work independently and in groups. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with facutly, staff, students, and other professional organizations. Fluency in English. Ability to present professional appearance and implement measures to maintain own health without jeopardizing students, co-workers and patients. Ability to think critically to carry out functions.  Must demonstrate effective use of instructional technology in teaching and learning.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Assumes teaching responsibilities for assigned courses. Prepares lectures. Updates syllabi, course

           competencies, and lesson objectives. Prepares, administers and evaluates tests. Selects textbooks and

            resource materials.

  1.  Prepares and submits necessary reports required by accreditation agencies, administration, and state

              agencies that are necessary to maintain operation of the program.

  1. Identifies and submits Department needs obtained from the Program Coordinators.
  2. Monitors program enrollment.
  3. Prepares programs' semester curriculum schedule, completes and submits MIS forms per semester, and submits general education course needs.

      6.    Assists faculty with preparing and developing: performance evaluations, development proposals,                   

            department goals, and budgetary needs.

  1.  Attends necessary meetings.

      8.    Performs other related duties as required
