POSITION:  Dean of Center for Teaching & Learning, Position # 112515, Slot 0003

 

SALARY:  Actual starting salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in instructional development, instructional technology, teaching and learning, or an academic discipline. Seven years of progressively responsible experience related to teaching and learning, instructional development, curriculum or program design, instructional technology, and classroom teaching.

 

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Thorough knowledge of practices and principles related to curriculum development, educational technology, teaching and learning strategies and alternative delivery methods. Ability to think critically to carry out functions. Ability to manage and coordinate a variety of tasks simultaneously. Ability to lead and direct the work of others. Ability to work independently and in groups. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and business partners. Communication skills to interact verbally and in written form with students, peers, administration, and the general public. Tact and resourcefulness in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.

 

 SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1.       Provides leadership in planning and organizing innovations in teaching and learning to maximize student success. Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates educational activities to support quality teaching and learning college-wide, including services through area of responsibility including instructional development, library information services, distance learning activities, educational technology, developmental education, academic success, and assessment. Establishes outcomes, procedures, timelines and performance criteria for short and long-term planning for faculty/staff in his/her area of responsibility. 

2.       Provides leadership and oversight for the instructional development processes and the incorporation of educational technologies at the College. Provides consultative services and resources to individuals and groups involved in planning, organizing, and delivering instructional programs and projects. Provides oversight to the DACUM process and other curriculum and educational technology development efforts related to both traditional and alternative formats.

3.       Provides leadership to support student learning activities and maximize student success, including activities in developmental education, academic success (learning coaches, tutoring, and college orientation courses), and assessment. Provides support in implementation of the Quality Enhancement Plan.  

4.        Provides leadership in the oversight and management of resources for the Center for Teaching and Learning.  Provides supervision and leadership to managers in area of responsibility in the acquisition/utilization of resources and maintenance/security of facilities. Coordinates the preparation of budgets and monitors expenditures of the budgets.  

5.        Explores and facilitates internal partnerships and external partnerships with business/industry and other educational entities to maximize the teaching and learning process and support student success.

6.       Participates and encourages staff to participate in professional development and community activities/events; promotes the College whenever applicable. Serves on committees as appropriate and performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the College and its students.
