ROCK HILL—At a
press conference on Monday, April 8, York Technical College
will recognize the substantial contribution of Founders
Federal Credit Union to the success of the Institute for
Manufacturing Productivity and announce a major new partner.
The event will be at 3 p.m. at the Institute.
The college will announce that Charmilles
Technologies, the world’s largest supplier of electrical
discharge machining equipment, headquartered in Geneva,
Switzerland, will join the Institute for Manufacturing
Productivity as a major partner. Charmilles machines are
widely used in the plastics industry, injection molding and
extrusion. The company’s North American operations are
headquartered in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Charmilles also has
application and demonstration centers in New Jersey,
California, and now at York Tech’s Institute for
Manufacturing Productivity.
Harry Moser, president of Charmilles USA
operations, said, "Customers are always welcome in anytime
and we will get fantastic visibility. The students will
always have the latest machines because we plan on always
having current model machines on site. It is a win-win
deal."
Founders Federal Credit Union is the
largest credit union in South Carolina with more than $700
million in assets and more than 100,000 members. But
Founders also stands apart for its commitment to sharing in
the growth and development of its community. In addition to
its help with the Institute, Founders has also generously
assisted the college by contributing to the Capital
Campaign, through contributing to the annual Golf Marathon,
and by sponsoring student scholarships and York Technical
College-Chester’s Women’s Conference.
