The digital revolution has led to the creation of a new career opportunity: the digital designer. Digital designers use computers and sophisticated software applications to create compelling page layouts and graphics that can be displayed in traditional print media and/or in cyber space. York Technical College’s Digital Design certificate program provides both the theory and hands-on training you will need to become a digital designer. Emphasis is placed on design fundamentals, concept development, digital illustration, production procedures and typography. Students enrolled in the program have access to a modern, fully equipped, Macintosh computer lab where they learn the professional applications for Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkExpress and other software design and layout tools. Through case studies and hands-on instruction, students master the skills and techniques for creating powerful visual communication. Graduates of the college’s Digital Design program qualify for numerous entry-level positions in both public and private organizations, including graphic artist at newspapers, advertising agencies and marketing departments.
