Margaret's  Story

Her dark eyes bright, Margaret O’Connor talks about the “Pilot Nursing Program” which uses Eluminate software, so that students are able to receive lectures away from campus, usually in their own homes.

 “Everything is so exciting,” Margaret says, “for the students are able to interact with their instructors, and there are power point presentations and articles on the whiteboard.  The instructors leave us encouraging notes.  We can call the teachers at home or email them, and Bryan Thomas is always available if we have technical problems.”

 Margaret really enjoyed doing her clinicals at the nursing home, then at the hospital.  “I am truly grateful to York Tech, especially to Mrs. Saylor and Mrs. Hamilton.  At 45, I needed assurance.”  The mother of four, Margaret smiles and says that her children are so proud.  “Mom, you look so cool in your uniform.”

 When she was younger, Margaret took classes at Lehman College in New York.  When she finishes this Pilot Program, she would like to work for awhile, then return to pursue her RN degree.  When she is not studying and transporting her teenagers around, Margaret enjoys sharing stories and playing with her dogs.
