Rebecca's
Story “Beekeepr Becomes Student” A
certified beekeeper in York County, a breeder of South African Boer
goats, and a coin collector, Rebecca Keller manages to do well in
her studies at York Technical College. “I have really enjoyed my
time here, especially the history class with Mr. Sturgis.” She plans to complete her Associates in Science and earn a certificate in Environmental Science in 2008. Keller grew up on a farm where she continues to raise animals. “The goats are hearty, and there’s just something special about their size and personalities.” Dr. Sigmon, Rebecca’s biology instructor, thoroughly enjoys hearing about the goats. “Rebecca has a great sense of humor, especially when she talks about her goats.” The recipient of many scholarships, Keller does both dairy and livestock judging and works as an animal caretaker for Martha Holcombe who rescues animals with the Animal Adoption League in York County. Although she is unsure about projects after graduation, Keller knows she will continue to work with her bees, animals, and coins. “Old coins are my favorite ones. In fact, I have a penny which has never been stamped, so I have no idea of its age.” |
