Program Overview

The Automotive Technology curriculum is designed to prepare students for a career as an automotive technician. As automobiles become increasingly complex,  the need for service technicians will increase for the foreseeable future.

Seven programs are offered: five Certificate programs, a Diploma program, and an Automotive Technology Degree program .

Program Outcomes/Goals

 

1.  Automotive Technology Associate Degree Program graduates must have:

 

    a.      an appropriate mastery of the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of their  trade,

 

    b.     an ability to apply current knowledge and adapt to new applications in their trade, to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems

 

    c.     an ability to function effectively in teams,

 

    d.     an ability to communicate effectively,

 

    e.      an ability to understand professional, ethical, and social responsibilities, respect for diversity and a knowledge of contemporary professional, societal, and global issues

 

    f.     a commitment to quality, timeliness and continuous improvement

 

   

2. Automotive Technology Diploma Program graduates must have:

 

An engineering, industrial, or occupational technology diploma program must demonstrate that graduates have:

 

    a.     an appropriate mastery of the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of their  disciplines,

 

    b.     an ability to apply current knowledge and adapt to emerging applications of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems,

 

    c.     an ability to function effectively in teams,

 

    d.     an ability to communicate effectively,

 

   

3. Automotive Technology Certificate Program graduates must have:

 

    a.     an appropriate mastery of the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of their  disciplines,

 

    b.      an ability to apply current knowledge and adapt to emerging applications of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems,

 

    c.     and an ability to function effectively in teams.
