Program Information

Students wishing to complete the General Technology (GT) Degree in Building and Construction Trades must first successfully complete at least one of the six trades certificates mentioned in the  BCT program overview prior to entering the Building Management Certificate (BCM). A student must then successfully complete the BCM certificate along with the required academics that are listed below. This can be seen in the GT Degree path page.

The General Technology Degree with a Major in Building Construction Trades is designed to provide the graduate with a broad range of entry level skills.

The General Technology Degree has four components that total 68 credit hours: general education, primary technical specialty, secondary technical specialty and other required courses. The primary technical specialty uses courses from the Building Construction Management Certificate program. The secondary technical specialty courses are to be selected from one of the six trades certificates that are offered. The other required courses are listed in the General Technology Check sheet given below.

A. General Education (15 credit hours)

B. Required Core Subject Areas

1. Primary Technical Specialty (28 credit hours minimum)

2. Secondary Technical Specialty (12 credit hours minimum)

The student must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours in another technical area that has been approved by his/her advisor. (The secondary technical specialty courses are to be selected from one of the six trades certificates that are offered.)

C. Other Required Coursework (13 credit hours)

*Courses in this program which require a minimum grade of "C".
