York Tech Offers Students Opportunities to Get a Jump Start on a Career

ROCK HILL, SC  York Technical College is offering a one-time opportunity for students to get a jump start on earning career-specific credentials in a variety of fields for a limited time. New students interested in careers in healthcare, criminal justice, carpentry and plumbing can begin programs on February 10th although the traditional semester has already started.

The College is offering classes packaged to meet the needs of high school graduates, working professionals, or those in career transition. While the healthcare and criminal justice programs offer specific classes to serve as a jumpstart – the carpentry and plumbing programs are cohort based, in which a group of students stay together until the completion of the program. These formats add a level of convenience as well as a comfortable learning environment.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, annual salaries in these fields range from $23,000 - $57,000 per year. Employment in the plumbing, carpentry and healthcare industries are projected to grow between 19-24 percent in the next decade, faster than the average for all other occupations.

Classes are forming now for early February. Limited slots remain and financial aid is available. York Tech is also offering scholarships for these programs. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Interested students should contact Lydia Moore at 803.981.7724 or via email at to apply and register.
