Hoellen Wins League for Innovation's John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award

ROCK HILLKathy Hoellen, Dean for York Technical College's Center for Teaching and Learning, has been named a winner of the League for Innovation in the Community College's John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award.

"Our students who achieve academic success inspire me," Hoellen said. "My work at York Tech is about high expectations and connections. The Center connects students and faculty to college resources, teaching and learning support, and each other. It is gratifying to see those connections support the success of students and faculty at the college."

The League for Innovation in the Community College is an international organization dedicated to catalyzing the community college movement. It hosts conferences and institutes, develops web resources, conducts research, produces publications, provides services, and leads projects and initiatives with member colleges, corporate partners, and other agencies in a continuing effort to make a positive difference for students and communities.

John E. and Suanne D. Roueche, community college leaders associated with the League for Innovation for more than 35 years, were early proponents of the idea that teachers have major responsibility for how well students perform in the classroom.
