York Tech Mentor Group Makes Commitment to Leadership

ROCK HILL, SC  The A-Game, York Technical College’s Male mentoring group has much in store for the future. After hosting the first annual “Leader in Me” Symposium, in partnership with York Tech’s SC Accelerate program, the A-Game plans to provide even more leadership development workshops and activities for students.

The leadership symposium held in early April began as just a great idea, and developed into a life-changing event that received overwhelmingly positive feedback. One of the goals of the symposium was to give students the tools they need to become closer to acheiving their professional, educational and life goals. With leadership development- focused workshop sessions and "empowerment exchange" specialist Kwain Bryant as the keynote speaker, the symposium was designed to uplift students and provide them with a vision of leadership. Because of the turnout, A-game organizers and SC Accelerate staff are in the early planning stages of even more leadership-focused initiatives.

“We were excited to see that every workshop session was filled, and the keynote speaker really honed in on what it means to be a leader. Because of the turnout, we were inspired to do even more to help build leaders in the community,” A-Game Program Coordinator and Information Technology Instructor Dexter Harlee said.

The next leadership symposium is to be held later this year. Students are encouraged to look out for details to come in the near future. For more information students can contact leaderinme@yorktech.edu.
