Machine Tool Technology Program Receives Renewal of NIMS Accreditation
ROCK HILL—Following a rigorous on-site evaluation, York Technical College’s Machine Tool Technology program recently received renewal of its accreditation by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
The accreditation recognizes the program as one that meets the high standards established by NIMS on behalf of the nation’s precision manufacturing industry.
NIMS also congratulated the program’s Department Chair Michael McClain for maintaining a commitment to excellence in leading the program.
In April, NIMS evaluator and team leader Joan Cook (of RICOWI Inc. in Clinton, Ohio) conducted a
thorough evaluation of York Tech's Machine Tool Technology program and facilities on the Rock
Hill campus and was highly complimentary of the program. Her final evaluation report praised the program's "outstanding facilities," the “extensive support” it receives from the college administration, and its highly qualified instructional staff. Cook was also impressed with the program's support from local industry, both in terms of measuring and tooling contributions as well as advisory committee participation, noting the program's success in preparing students for industry.
York Tech's Machine Tool Technology program first received the prestigious
accreditation in January 2006.
