Rutherford Named Chair of Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation
ROCK HILL—York Technical College President Dr. Greg Rutherford has been named the new chairman of the Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation.
who previously served as vice chairman, takes over for Andy Shene at an exciting time
of development for the city. Within the next two years, several ambitious projects are set to launch in Rock Hill, including
the 139 Main apartment complex, the Old Town East office complex, and the new Knowledge Park.
Since coming to Rock Hill seven years ago, Rutherford has been a strong advocate for the potential the city’s downtown core. Under Rutherford’s leadership, the college established the Hive, a work-based learning cooperative and small business incubation program in Old Town.
Rutherford’s experience in higher education and
workforce development is expected to be a valuable asset to Rock Hill’s Knowledge Park project, which will focus on bringing
knowledge economy businesses and jobs to downtown.
