York Tech's Wiley Receives
Governor's Award for Student of the Year
July 1, 2005
GREENVILLE—York
Technical College student Jim Wiley was named the
winner of the 2004 Carolina Careers Governor’s Award during a ceremony
on Tuesday hosted by the S.C. Department of Education at Greenville's
Palmetto Expo Center.
Wiley’s win in the 2-year college category marks the fifth year in a row
the award has gone to a York Tech student.
In 2004, Jim completed two
successful work-based learning projects—an internship with Bowater and a
co-op with Ross Distribution—while enrolled in York Tech’s Webmaster
Certificate program. But he also found time to tutor other students and
was active in the college’s Computer Club.
