ROCK HILLOn Wednesday, York Technical College hosted a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) along with representatives of the CEO Roundtable for Carolinas Advanced Manufacturing Companies.

GIZ, or Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, is a leading not-for-profit agency in the field of international cooperation and has global expertise in the development of sustainable solutions for economic development and employment. The high-level delegation that visited York Tech is studying the feasibility of opening an office in the United States.

York Technical College President Dr. Greg Rutherford and Sid Valentine, the college’s Associate Vice President for Industrial and Engineering Technologies, led the group on a tour of York Tech’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing. The delegation learned how York Technical College works closely with the region’s manufacturers to meet the critical need for a skilled workforce in high-demand advanced manufacturing jobs.

The delegation also spoke to York Tech instructors and students, who explained how they are preparing for high-paying manufacturing jobs available in our region right now.
