HILL—York Technical College held its annual Practical Nurse
(PN) Program recognition ceremony on Thursday, August 9, at the Baxter Hood Center.
The ceremony also included the presentation of awards to the
class of 2007. Paula Wright, RN, Director of Education for Chester
Regional Medical Center, delivered the commencement address.
York Tech's PN Program, approved by the Board of
Nursing for South Carolina, prepares students for the practice of
nursing across the lifespan. After graduation, students can apply to
sit for the National Council Licensing Examination for Practical
Nurses. Those passing the exam become licensed practical nurses.
The PN graduates can also continue directly into a higher degree program,
including York Tech's own 2-year associate's degree nursing program,
in preparation for the Registered Nurse (RN) licensing exam.
York Tech offers Practical Nursing in both
Chester and Lancaster through partnerships with the Chester Career
Center and the Lancaster Vocational Center. Participates in
