September 9, 2009

ROCK HILLYork Technical College will host its annual Welcome Back Blast on Thursday, September 10, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. outside the Student Center.

In conjunction with this year's Welcome Back Blast, York Tech and representatives from Piedmont Medical Center and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) will be disseminating important information about how to stay healthy during this year's flu season.

York Technical College is taking a number of steps to prepare for flu season, including:

  • Informational posters and flyers have been posted in classrooms and common areas.

  • Information on preventive measures and links to flu-related information is available on the college's website.

  • Hand sanitizing stations will be installed in common areas of all classroom and administrative buildings.

  • Custodial personnel will increase efforts to clean surfaces (desks, keyboards, table/counter tops and door knobs) daily during the flu season using a hospital-grade neutral disinfectant cleaner.

  • Disinfecting wipes for cleaning surfaces will be available in all labs.
