Technical College will be partnering with Cox's Harley-Davidson to offer
Rider's Edge®: Motorcycle Safety. This
public-private partnership is the first of its kind in the state. The
program is designed for novice riders and covers basic motorcycle riding
techniques. Students will learn about the Department of Transportation
and Harley-Davidson's suggested safety gear and protective measures.
Anyone hoping to attend the course must be eligible for a motorcycle
driver's license and be able to ride a bicycle. Students do not need to
bring their own motorcycles, Buell® Blasts® motorcycles will be
provided. A DOT approved helmet is required. Participants who
successfully complete the course are eligible for an insurance discount.
Rick Caviness, general manager of Cox’s Harley-Davidson said, "We are
very excited to be forging this new and mutually beneficial relationship
with York Technical College. In pooling our resources, York Technical
College and Cox’s Harley-Davidson will provide the community a
much-needed service by making available the Rider’s Edge® motorcycle
safety education course. With the growing popularity of the sport of
motorcycling, the need for this course has never been greater. We are
very proud of making it available locally."
Each four-day course is $325, and the course time is divided between the
driving range at York Technical College and the classroom at Cox's
Harley-Davidson. Catered lunch will be provided on both Saturday and
Sunday. Classes are limited to 12 students.
Course dates and times are as follows:
October 26 - 29
November 9 - 12
Friday and Monday from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
