Strickland Named as New Training Coordinator

October 10, 2002

ROCK HILL—Kenneth Strickland has joined York Technical College’s Continuing Education Division as its coordinator of Construction & Heavy Equipment Operator Training. Strickland, a Rock Hill native, is certified by the National Center for Construction Education and Research as a heavy equipment operations instructor. He is also an NCCER-certified safety instructor.

Strickland retired from the Rock Hill Fire Department as chief of training in 1999 after 28 years of service. He has also worked part time with his family’s construction and grading business for 25 years—operating heavy equipment, bidding on projects and managing them. Strickland served in the U.S. Navy and holds an associate’s degree from York Tech.

York Technical College’s NCCER-accredited Heavy Equipment Operator Program trains students on a 26-acre tract near Chester. Students get hours of hands-on experience using name-brand bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, motor graders, and other construction equipment. Students who complete the program are eligible to document their training in the NCCER’s National Registry, ensuring that their qualifications will be recognized wherever they go.

Strickland can be contacted at (803) 981-7297 or kstrickland@yorktech.com.
