ROCK HILL—On
Saturday, October 17, the Visions Educational Talent Search program will host
its fifth annual Educational Empowerment Fall Conference. The event, for
Visions program participants and their parents only, will be held from 8 a.m. until
1 p.m. at the Baxter Hood
Center on the York Tech campus. The keynote speaker for this year's
conference will be former Carolina Panthers star Mike Minter.
Workshops
and activities for adults and students ages 12 to 17 will be presented
by ACT Inc., Community Powerhouse of Lancaster, Founders Federal Credit
Union, the Girl Scouts of America,
Here We Go TV,
Winthrop University Multicultural Affairs and York
Technical College.
VISIONS is an Educational Talent
Search outreach program funded by the U.S. Department of Education and
sponsored by York Technical College.
The purpose of the conference is to educate and
expose families in Chester, Lancaster, and York counties to the
opportunities available through their participation in this program.
VISIONS is designed to help participants in York, Chester and Lancaster
counties better understand and actively pursue their educational
opportunities and career options. Its goal is to ensure that participants
complete high school and enroll in a postsecondary institution of their
choice.
