Employment Security Commission & Area Legislators
to Host Job Forum at York Technical College

October 28, 2009

ROCK HILL—The South Carolina Employment Security Commission, with support from State Senators Wes Hayes, Mick Mulvaney and Representatives Deborah Long, Jimmy Neal and other area legislators, will hold the Catawba Area Job Forum in Building A (next to the library) on the campus of York Technical College on Saturday, October 31. The Job Forum, which runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., will offer help to residents of Chester, Lancaster and York counties in their search for jobs and new careers.

S.C. Employment Security Commission employees will meet individually with anyone seeking work to assess their needs. The Catawba Area Job Forum is intended to connect jobless residents with local employers that are hiring and to give jobseekers a chance to receive free advice on their careers or educational and training opportunities that may be available to them to enhance their chances of getting a job.

Information about jobs listed through the S.C. Employment Security Commission’s state-wide Job Link Internet job site will be shared with job seekers who can go online or do manual job searches on their own or with the assistance of SCESC personnel.

Job Seekers in the Lancaster area that desire to attend the Job Forum and have transportation constraints are being asked to call the United Way at (803) 283-8923 by October 29. Transportation will be provided to the event in Rock Hill courtesy of Senator Mick Mulvaney and Representative Deborah Long.

Special staff support provided by Coca-Cola distributors of South Carolina.
