ROCK HILLFounders Federal Credit
Union will make a major donation to the York Technical College Foundations Capital
Campaign at a luncheon on Wednesday, November 29. The event will be held at 12:30 p.m. at
the Baxter M. Hood Continuing Education Center on the colleges campus. The check
presentation will be made by Founders President & CEO Laura Fleming.
The Founders donation will greatly
assist the York Technical College Foundation in meeting its goal of raising $3.5 million
for the purpose of building two major physical facilities on the colleges campus
that are estimated to cost approximately $9.5 million plus equipment. The balance of the
funding is being provided by the State of South Carolina and York County. The Founders
gift will put the Capital Campaign over the $2.5 million mark.
Also on Wednesday, the credit union will offer York Technical
College students a free money management seminar. "Reality 101: Managing Your Money
and Surviving the Tuition Blues," led by Founders financial counselor Wendy Culler,
will give students helpful information about credit cards, debt consolidation, improving
credit standing, and more.
Founders Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union in
South Carolina with more than $700 million in assets and more than 100,000 members. But
Founders also stands apart for its commitment to sharing in the growth and development of
its community. Founders has also provided assistance to the college by participating in
the annual Golf Marathon and by sponsoring scholarships and the York Technical
College-Chesters Womens Conference.
"We cant think of a better way to invest in the future
than by providing educational opportunities for our future leaders," said Fleming.
