Marion Joins York Technical College Area Commission

ROCK HILL—York Technical College recently announced the appointment of Dr. A. Douglas Marion of Chester to the York Technical College Area Commission, the college's governing board.

Marion, an ophthalmologist with Eye Associates of Chester, has served as Chief of Staff and as Chief of Surgery for Chester Regional Medical Center and is a member of many professional and civic organizations, including the Chester Regional Medical Center Advisory Board, the Chester County Medical Society, the Chester County Chamber of Commerce Board and the Chester County YMCA Board of Directors.

In accordance with the South Carolina Technical College System charter, York Tech is governed by an Area Commission, a board of business and community leaders from within the college's service area. The members are nominated by the local legislative delegation and appointed by the governor. For more than 40 years, the visionary leadership of the men and women who have served as members of the York Technical College Area Commission has made the college a vital part of economic development in York, Lancaster, and Chester counties.
