York Tech First to Bring Remote Computer Networking System to S.C.

December 20, 2006

ROCK HILL—York Technical College students training in the college's Cisco Networking Academy are now supplementing their class and lab time with an Internet-based, remote lab appliance called NETLAB Academy Edition® that allows them to use the college's actual networking hardware remotely. The Network Academy program prepares students to take the industry-recognized Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification exam.

York Tech is one of eight Cisco Regional Networking Academies in South Carolina, but it is the first Networking Academy in the state to invest in the NETLAB Academy Edition®.

The system provides 24/7 access to equipment, allowing students more lab time and practice and maximizing the use of networking lab equipment. The system's session sharing feature also supports instructor-led classroom lectures and team collaboration on projects from almost any location with Internet access.
