College officials welcomed 18 students and their advisors who are visiting from Ireland for the summer on May 31.

The students, ages 18 to 28, are from both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
They are participants in a program called Wider Horizons, which seeks to give young
people from different parts of Ireland opportunities to share positive experiences.

During their 10-week stay, the students will work at Paramount’s Carowinds, a theme park on the border between North and South Carolina. They will study Customer Service with Christine Turner through York Technical College’s Continuing Education division.

The students were greeted by local media and college administrators. They were treated to a breakfast buffet before Dr. Dennis Merrell, President of the College, gave a welcoming speech.

After the reception the visiting students were given a tour around the campus, including a sneak preview of the C-building expansion.
