acting work for television, film, radio, books on tape,
documentaries and the internet. We will cover all the
basics, including how to prepare the all - important
demo and how to be successful and earn great income in
the exciting field. Students will have the opportunity
to ask questions and to hear examples of demos recorded
by professional voice actors. Class participants will
even have a chance to record a commercial script under
the direction of our Voicecoaches.com producer! This
class is informative, lots of fun, and a great first
step for anyone interested in voice acting
professionally.

Crochet
Beginner - Single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet....what does it all mean? Crochet is a wonderful
craft by itself, but also good for every knitter to know
because it adds a world of embellishment possibilities
for you knitted projects.
You will learn the basics then choose your first project
to create. Plan your holiday gift giving now by choosing
a scarf, cap, slippers, purse, or dishcloth.

Intermediate - Prerequisite: Must have taken Crochet for
beginners or know how to crochet.
Class will take you to another level. Learn about color
changes, pattern stitches, and crocheting in the round.
You will learn more about gauge, body measurements, and
how to combine these to make a simple sweater or vest to
fit any size.

Knitting
Beginner - Have you always wanted to learn to knit? Learn
the basics and design the garment or item of your choice
and color. Knitting is a great way to express your
personal style and taste and a wonderful way to create
unique, one-of-a-kind gifts for family and friends.
Choose from a number of items for your class project,
including scarves, caps, slippers, purse or dishcloth.
Fee includes materials.
Intermediate - Prerequisite: Must have taken knitting for
beginners or know how to knit.
Class will take you to another level. Learn more
about increases and decreases, shaping a garment,
pattern stitches, and how to follow a pattern.
If you have ever wanted to learn about multi-color
knitting or cables, this is the class for you!
You will also learn about knitting with circular and
double pointed needles, as time permits.
Students will choose a class project appropriate for
their skill level.

Spanish
Conversational
- Upon successful completion of this course,
participants will be able to: Use practical travel
terminology needed for social interaction and conducting
business. Students will learn basic speech and reading.
Pronunciation is emphasized so students will learn to
understand the spoken language and be able to formulate
responses.
Stained Glass
Will be held at instructor's studio in
Fort Mill, SC. Directions will be given at
registration.
Basic
- This class is structured for the beginner. Students
will learn the history of Stained glass and the
different types of stained glass construction. Students,
working with appropriate tools, complete a project in
copper foil style

Advanced -
Advanced
Stained Glass is structured for students who are
familiar with basic stained glass working and equipment.
This class requires use of tools and materials beyond
the basics and a detailed project will be completed
using lead cane.
Glass, lead, materials, and tools needed for the
advanced class are included in the price.
If you do not
already own a basic kit, you will need to purchase this as well
as the additional materials necessary for the advanced class. Assuming
students have the basic kit, an additional fee will
be included with the cost of tuition for the following tools and

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS
Cake Decorating
-
Effective 1/2008

The
Cake
Decorating Certificate Program consists of four core courses. If you are
interested in pursuing a certificate, you must
successfully complete all four, beginning with Buttercream Icing; however,
courses may be taken individually if a certificate is not your
goal.
Buttercream Icing
-
You are going to love learning to
decorate cakes. Think how proud you will be to
make the next birthday cake for you little one or the
new neighbor. What better way to say welcome than
with a beautiful cake? What ever the event you
will have the cake for it. In this course you will
learn to make and color buttercream icing.
You will learn about the different icing consistencies and when
each to use them. We will talk
about three different bag types, plus how to
fill and close them. Then we move to
tip care and storage. There are five steps to
prepare a cake for decoration. Correct bag
position and pressure control will also be covered.
We will learn to use star, round,
petal, leaf and drop flower tips.
With just five different shapes you
will be able to wow your family and friends!
You will master the shell border,
vines and stems, leaves, writing,
bow, star flower, swirled flower,
sweet pea, and yes, last but not
least, the ROSE.
Royal Icing
-
You are going to learn many
beautiful new flowers, and impressive icing
techniques. Your cakes will bloom
with more than roses from now on. This course will
be a whole new experience. The first night, the
instructor will make royal icing in class. We will
talk about icing consistency and proper storage prior to
decoration. You will learn about flower formers
and templates. There will be use of flower and
lily nail. The daffodil and poinsettia are two of
the ten unique flowers you will learn to make in this
course.
Fondant and Gum Paste -
There is no holding you back now.
If you loved playing with play dough as a child then
come relive your childhood and make beautiful cakes at
the same time. We will learn to cut and shape
these dough-like icings into breathtaking flowers that
look like you just picked them from the garden. We
will also do beautiful textured drapes and graceful
borders.
Cake Design -
This course is not for the beginner,
but for those who are ready to make money while doing
something they love. We will cover cornelli lace, sotas,
string work, gorgeous borders, and ruffle
garland. The high light of this
course will be learning to build
tiered cakes. Tiered cake assembly may be done
in six ways; we will explore each one. You must
complete the buttercream icing course or have experience
to take this course.
Floral
Design -
The
Floral
Design Certificate Program consists of four core courses. If you are
interested in pursuing a certificate, you must
successfully complete all four, beginning with Basic I; however,
courses may be taken individually if a certificate is not your
goal. Additional fee for materials will be collected at
first class.
Floral Design
1
covers the care and handling of flowers and floral
material, flower identification, construction of various
styles and arrangements, wiring, and taping techniques.
Floral Design I is a prerequisite for all core courses if the
student wishes to pursue the certificate program. There
will be an additional materials fee of $125 paid to the
instructor to cover the cost elements and items used by
each student to create floral designs.
Floral Design 2 expands upon Design I with emphasis on more
hands on design. Design II will focus on
novelty arrangements, potting techniques, sympathy
designs, funeral arrangements, gift and fruit baskets as
well as hand-tied bouquets. There will be an
additional materials fee of $75 paid to the instructor
to cover the cost elements and items used by each
student to create floral designs.
Floral Design 3 begins with all elements
of wedding and reception pieces, including corsages,
boutonnieres, bouquets, arrangements for church, etc.
This session will host a mock wedding. This session will
also focus on the art of silk floral design. There
will be an additional materials fee of $75 paid to the
instructor to cover the cost elements and items used by
each student to create floral designs.
Floral Design 4
will re-visit the basic elements
of design styles and create something extraordinary with
them....The "wow" factor. We will create a contemporary
floral art piece by "stepping outside the box," turning
on its side, and decorating it.
There will be an additional materials fee of $125 paid to the
instructor to cover the cost elements and items used by
each student to create floral designs.
Interior Decorating
Certificate - Effective 1/2008

Intro to
Interior Environments - Students will be
introduced to the profession of interior design and
decoration. They will develop an understanding of the
responsibilities and career options of a decorator and
the process required to attain the abilities necessary
in this line of work.
This course serves as a prerequisite for all modules in the
certification program.
Drafting and Measuring -
Instruction of basic drafting and lettering skills will
be learned. Students will learn how to measure a room
and draw it to scale. Students will also develop basic
blueprint reading skills. Some computer drafting skills
will be taught. This course serves as a pre requisite
for space planning. Students will study a range of
architectural and furniture styles necessary for selecting the
appropriate features for various needs and tastes, includes
historical study of early settler to the present.
Space Planning
- Students will gain an understanding of positive and
negative space, basic principals of space planning and
how to place furniture into a residential home. In
addition we will evaluate floor plans and learn how to
determine the spatial needs of a client.
Prerequisite: Drafting and Measuring.
Furnishings - Students will acquire knowledge of furniture
styles and their evolutions and how the styles have been adapted
through history. Students will develop skills necessary for the
selection furnishings for specific needs and learn how to
evaluate the quality of furniture. Prerequisite: Drafting and
Measuring.
Textiles, Windows, Walls, and Floors
- The focus of this course is to identify the
characteristics and uses of textiles within the interior
environment. Students will explore different types of window,
wall and floor treatments and appropriate applications. Basic
principals of measuring to calculate materials needed will be
developed. Prerequisite: Drafting and Measuring.
Color and Lighting
- Students will be taught the
fundamentals of color and lighting and relationships to each
other. Skills of developing color schemes will be taught.
Business, Policies, and Practices
- Students will learn business techniques and policies
specifically related to the interior Decorating field. Topics
will include sales techniques, phone etiquette, professional
presentations, resumes/portfolios, purchase orders, statements,
contracts and other business procedures to ensure success in
