I am trying to access my class, but I cannot get logged in.  It keeps telling me that my username and password are not correct. The semester begins next week.

You will be able to access your course when the semester begins.  Online courses are required to have the same time restrictions as traditional courses.  The only classes that are different are the mini-mesters. Go here to get a jump start on using WebCT:

I can’t log in. It returns an error “incorrect username and password.” The semester starts today.

Is my WebCT username/password the same as my Campus Cruiser username/password?

No, your WebCT password is not the same as your Campus Cruiser password.  The username for both WebCT and Campus Cruiser is the same.  If you need assistance with formulating your WebCT username/password, follow this link: http://www.yorktech.com/edutech/ytlogon.asp .

I am able to get into WebCT, but I am having trouble opening some of my files such as the syllabus and modules.  I have been able to download everything I need.  What do you think may be causing this?

  • You may have a pop-up blocker on.  Most pop-up blockers can be overridden by holding down the control   (CRTL) key while clicking on the link.  If the link opens, then you need to turn off the pop-up blocker. 

  • You also may need to download and open the files from the download.  This occurs when your memory space is too fragmented.  You may want to defrag your computer.

 

 

I am trying to log into my WebCT account and when I click on login, I get a message that indicates the address can’t be found.

I keep getting redirected to another web site when I try to access my WebCT. Can you help me?

I cannot log into WebCT.  I tried to reset my password and can’t figure out how to do this.

In WebCT, you cannot reset your password.  Campus Cruiser allows you to reset your password.  Click on the following link to see how to configure your password: http://www.yorktech.com/edutech/ytlogon.asp .

Something is wrong with my WebCT.  I can log on and see my classes.  However, the next page has the word “write” listed a bunch of times.  What do I need to do to fix this?

When I log into my WebCT, my course does not show up. I need to get this fixed. 

You will need to call support for WebCT at 803-327-8033 so that your course can be added.

I tried to sign into my WebCT course.  When I hit the login button, a message appears that says the request is forbidden.  Can you help me fix this problem?

There are two possible problems. One problem is your firewall.  Make sure that you have allowed WebCT to cross your firewall or you have turned it off while working on WebCT.  The second problem could be a parasite.  Click on the following link to download a free anti-spyware program that will aid you in removing parasites: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm .

I am having trouble accessing files that my instructor has put in WebCT.  I can access them at school, but not at home.  One type of file is a PowerPoint.  What do I need to do?

This sounds like a pop-up blocker.  You may have several different pop-up blockers on your computer.  Be sure to turn off all of them. Most pop-up blockers can be overridden by holding down the control (CRTL) key while clicking on the link.  If the link opens, then you need to turn off the pop-up blocker. 

I am having problems reading my bulletin board and e-mail.  Some icons are not showing up.  When I am at school, everything is fine.  What can I do to my home PC to clear up this problem?
