Overview of Institutional Effectiveness

At York Technical College, Institutional Effectiveness is a program of continual self-improvement through assessment and planned change at every level of the College.  This process allows each organizational unit of the College to be its own internal auditor, constantly assessing what it does and seeking ways to better serve students, business and industry.  York Technical College believes that institutional effectiveness is the responsibility of every employee, and thus every effort is made to involve all personnel in the annual review process.

Each fall, the faculty and staff determine the expected outcomes and means of assessment for the organizational unit to which they are assigned.  The expected outcomes must be related to the institutional goals and measures as stated in the College’s strategic plan.  In the ensuing months, the organizational unit implements the assessment program, analyzes the results and develops a plan for change if needed.  These results are documented and reported to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness where they are electronically stored and made available to the entire College.  The Office on Institutional Effectiveness is also available to support any assessment efforts such as surveys, focus groups, analysis of data, etc.

York Technical College believes that this inclusive process of annual review and assessment provides quality improvement of the College on an on-going basis.
