Definition:  An entry-level video production specialist works comfortably and effectively in a video environment performing

duties in the areas of camera, lighting, audio, editing, and communications utilizing various analog and digital technologies.

H.         LIGHTING FUNDAMENTALS

H.4       Adjusts lighting for single and/or multiple camera production

H.5       Controls lighting through the use of a dimmer board or through lighting appliances; e.g., scrims, diffusion

H.6       Demonstrates working knowledge of various lighting instruments and lighting theory

I.          AUDIO FOR VIDEO/TV PRODUCTIONS

 

I.1         Selects and sets up microphones and support equipment

I.2         Mics guest/talent in appropriate manner

I.3         Monitors sound quality

I.4         Performs basic audio mixes

I.5         Sets up sound monitoring equipment

I.6         Executes basic recording session; e.g., tracking, voicing

I.7         Sets up audio processing equipment

J.         AUDIO/VIDEO TECHNICAL FUNCTIONS

 

J.1        Ensures recording function

J.2        Duplicates digital content and audio/video tapes

J.3        Monitors and adjusts audio/video and sync signal quality

J.4        Connects video equipment

J.5        Routes, switches, and records audio and video from multiple sources

J.6        Ensures proper recording and playback of time code

J.7        Digitizes content from various formats

J.8        Reversions digital content for various distribution  media; e.g., compression for streaming or CD ROM

J.9        Practices appropriate safety precautions

 

K.         VIDEO EDITING

 

K.1       Adapts editing skills for various systems; i.e., tape-based and non-linear

K.2       Performs edits according to industry professional standards; i.e., grammar of editing

K.3       Monitors and adjust video/audio time code signals

K.4       Performs audio mixes

K.5       Controls auxiliary equipment in a tape-based editing system; i.e., switcher, digital effects, character generator, still store, graphics system

K.6       Ingests field content into storage for non-linear editing

K.7       Masters to tape or other storage medium from non-linear editing system

L.         ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

L.5        Diagnoses problem and arranges for equipment repairs using appropriate documentation
