Description of Program Services
Many students begin college and do not have a clear plan relating to their long term educational goal. Our counselors will assist you with deciding on a career path and choosing a college major.
All students are required to complete the FAFSA as they begin college. Many students become confused about the various grants, scholarships, and lottery funds that are available and the correct procedures to complete financial aid information. We understand the importance of financial aid and will assist you with any questions and follow up to help you benefit from all available financial aid resources.
We will provide assistance in helping you choose the correct courses for you educational program and assist with the registration process each semester.
Free individual tutoring is a wonderful resource for our participants. If you have trouble in a course, our counselors and tutor coordinator will assist you with setting up tutoring sessions during a time suitable for you. Don’t get behind—get tutored! is our motto.
We will assist you either individually or in study sessions with any academic problem that may be related to study skills. Good reading, note-taking, test-taking, and time management skills are important to be successful in college.
Our counselors are knowledgeable about the procedures for transferring from our college to a four year university. We will assist you in choosing the correct transfer classes, inform you of necessary admission requirements, and even take you on a college visit if you like!
The SSS program provides free tickets for our students to attend a variety of cultural events in the community. We want you to take a break from the books and enjoy some cultural entertainment and expand your life experience.
Our program has a limited supply of textbooks that we can loan to students who have a financial need. This service has been helpful to many students due to the increasing costs of college textbooks.
