Tutoring Services

Students who are eligible for the SSS program receive free individualized tutoring in a variety of subject areas.

Both peer and professional tutors are available to assist students with tutoring needs. Students will be referred to the tutor coordinator by the program counselors and the coordinator will set up tutoring times and sessions that are suitable for each student.

Tutoring sessions are generally an hour long session and you can receive up to 3 sessions per week if needed.  Tutoring is provided in a private office area.  You are expected to come prepared with questions and your textbook.

Program counselors will monitor the student’s progress and consult as needed with the tutor coordinator and the tutor.  Each student will review the tutoring policies and procedures before beginning the tutoring sessions.

Tutoring has proven to be an effective resource and many SSS students have taken advantage of this service and have done well academically.  Individual, one-on-one tutoring is a wonderful service provided by our program.

In addition to the individual tutoring, SSS participants can also attend the open lab drop in tutoring that is available for all Tech students.  The times and subjects for the open labs can be accessed by going to the Tutoring Center's website and then clicking on the Drop-in schedule link.
