Sixty entrepreneurs attended the kickoff of the York Technical
College’s new Entrepreneur Network on
November 27, 2007, at 6 p.m. in the Baxter Hood
Center.
Bill Payne, an entrepreneur and Angel investment expert, presented “Let’s
Make a Deal – Financing Options for Entrepreneurs.”
Mr. Payne gave the attendees practical advice on how to get financing for
their small businesses. He discussed
the approaches to take whether trying to get financing from family members such
as “Aunt Martha,” the local banks, or Angel investors.
He explained the importance of the business plan and why it is especially
important for the business owner to conduct the research and write his own
business plan. After the lively
40-minute presentation, Mr. Payne fielded questions from the audience.
Grounds of Faith, a new coffee shop and catering business in Rock Hill, provided the audience with a delicious spread of appetizers including shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, skewered chicken, and much more. Door prizes were donated by Comporium, Office Depot, Ebenezer Grill , Barnes and Noble , and York Technical College’s Computer Club.
The Rock Hill High School brass ensemble serenaded the audience with Christmas tunes prior to the start of the session.
