BACKGROUND
This program assists selected individuals
who are pursuing an
Associate Degree in Nursing. The not-for-profit York Technical College Foundation is the
recipient and administrator of this

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
1.
Must be enrolled in the Nursing program
2. Must have a
minimum GPA of 2.0
3.
Must complete a York Technical College Application form below.

professional scholarship
program. The scholarship was
established in the memory of Zona Neal Lane on July 15th, 1985, the 100th anniversary of
her birth.
Mrs. Lane was born and reared in Newberry, South Carolina, the daughter of John Calvin
Neal and Mary Elizabeth Griffin. She was a member of the Newberry ARP Church where she
taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the
Confederate Army.
Her husband, Ernest M. Lane died in 1918, leaving her with four small children to rear.
Each one of these children received a college education. She was a firm believer in being
prepared for life and she believed that education was the basis for a successful career.
In honor of her dedication to education, her son, Ernest M. and his wife, Mary
Evelyn,
have established this scholarship.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
IMPORTANT: Your application must include:
1. Completed application form.

3. Letter of recommendation from a High School instructor or employer familiar with the
technical skills of the applicant.
4. Statement of need for scholarship assistance.
