Dawn to Dusk Golf Marathon

The York Technical College Foundation is committed to raising funds for scholarships. The Dawn to Dusk Golf Marathon was set up to raise funds to endow scholarships for some of our most promising students who have financial needs. A great number of potential students are not able to attend York Technical College because of the cost of tuition, books and supplies.

Golf: Dawn to Dusk consists of two foursomes at each course playing golf from sunrise to sundown. Each team has a goal of 50+ holes. Each team should complete as many holes as possible. Pledges are solicited on the basis of 50+ holes or for each hole that the team completes.

The players will seek donors to provide funds on a per hole basis. Every player will have a sheet that will record his sponsor’s name, address, telephone number, and the amount pledged per hole. These sheets should be forwarded to Angie Shirley at York Technical College, 452 South Anderson Road, Rock Hill, South Carolina 29730.

Each player should attempt to collect the pledges. The Development Office at York Technical College will be happy to bill the sponsors providing the information on the pledge sheets is readable and correct.

This year, sponsors will be able to make their pledges using the Internet. The Foundation has developed an electronic pledge form to encourage sponsors to make on-line pledges. The on-line pledge form is located at: www.yorktech.com/foundation.htm

Rules

It is important to establish rules of play to ensure that each foursome competes on an equal basis. This area is very flexible as the number of holes completed is what is important, not the score. For example, if the ball is hit to an unplayed lie, drop another ball immediately and continue play. (Look for the ball afterwards.) This allows the foursome to compare totals which fosters completion.
