New Automation Lab at York Technical College

The Industrial Maintenance department has recently brought back its Computer Integrated Manufacturing class. The 2009SU classes (Section 001 - Main Campus Students, and Section 002 - Chester Campus Students) were able to get exposure to Flexible Manufacturing as well as an introduction to robotics. The section 001 class was very instrumental in getting the ABB robots, which were donated to the college by BMW, up and running. The Section 002 class built an automated process that disassembled the bearing assembly from the Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS 200). Please visit the photo gallery to see these pictures and videos. Enjoy!

Student Discount Program for Tools and Meters

Industrial Maintenance and Residential/Commercial Wiring students are required to have the following tools and materials prior to the first scheduled class. Students that do not have the following items as a minimum, will be asked to leave and will be counted absent for that day. As stated in the student Catalog and Handbook, under Academic Regulations, students who are absent from a class more than 20% of the hours assigned, will be withdrawn from the course.

Some of the tools in the list below are mandatory and and some are purely suggestive. All students must have the mandatory tools as a minimum, before the end of the first scheduled week of class. Each Student is responsible for keeping up with their own tools while using them on campus*.

York Technical College has established Partnerships with Fluke and Klein Tools and it is strongly recommended that the student contact their advisor/instructor for information on these COST SAVING programs PRIOR to purchasing these materials!!

Student Vocational Price Breaks!

Bryant Electric Supply has been designated by Klein Tools to be the distributor for the Klein Partnership. You must be a current student at York Technical College enrolled into a Residential/Commercial Wiring or Industrial Maintenance course in order to partake of these price reduction programs.

Items that will be required before tools can be purchased using the Vocational/Technical Price Reduction Program:

  • A current student ID card from York Technical College. Your ID card must have the current semester sticker on the back.

  • A printout of the courses in which you are currently enrolled. This printout must be signed and dated by your instructor and be no more than one week old.

  • Your CID # will be used as a Purchase Order Number to track the tools that are being bought. This is done in order that  we can identify anyone who may be abusing the program.

For those that are on Financial Aid, please see your instructor or advisor for instructions on how you may be able to receive these same benefits.
