  Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Industrial Maintenance Department to provide accessible, relevant, and high-quality education in the fields of Industrial Maintenance and Welding. The department recognizes a graduate's marketable job skills by the awarding of Associate Degrees, Diplomas, and Certificates.

The Associate in Applied Science with a Major in Industrial Maintenance will prepare a student for an entry level position (unless the student is above average and/or already has field experience). The degree program is designed to teach and prepare the student to be multi-crafted in the field of maintenance. The student should be able to effectively install and/or troubleshoot a variety of electro-mechanical systems in the industrial field. The diploma programs are designed to teach and prepare the student to be skilled in either mechanical or electrical, but not both. The certificates are only designed to teach specific content and to give the student specific knowledge in that area, such as Basic Electricity, Programmable Controllers, or Motors and Controls. Unlike the Degree and the diploma, the certificate programs do not require academic courses such as Math and English.

Comprehensive technical education is offered through various instructional methods to qualified students from the Chester, Lancaster, and York county areas.

The Industrial Maintenance Department provides excellence in instructional programs which result in maintenance of high enrollment, retention of students, placement of graduates, and meeting of accreditation standards.

To achieve our mission, we design and deliver effective competency-based instruction. Our approach to organizing competency-based education is systematic yet flexible. This approach focuses on defining, in measurable terms, what students are able to learn and then evaluating how well they can perform designated tasks after instruction.
