Review for Test 2

You should be able to:

• add resistors in series and parallel: add a 300 Ω and a 500 Ω resistor in series and parallel.

• work Ohm's law problems: 20 V of electricity push 2 A of current through a resistor.  Find the resistance.

• work power problems: if 3 A of current run through a circuit powered by a 20 V battery, find the power.

• find the cost to run an electrical device: Find the cost to run a 3000 W heater runs for 5 hours at $0.08/kWhr.

                    first, 3000 W = 3 kW

                    then, (3 kW)(5 hr)($0.08/kWhr) = $1.20

• resistor color bands - I'll give you the values of each color

• basic knowledge of the types of ionizing radiation

• halflife

• what lenses do to light

• electro magnetic spectrum
