In an ever-growing technology arena, wireless networking technologies are becoming a crucial component of a campus network. Improvements in the bandwidth and security of Wi-Fi technology make it possible for students and guests to access the Internet using their personal laptops without finding a place to physically connect to the campus network, without the threat of an unauthorized user accessing confidential data and information systems, and without the risk on a virus-infected computer infiltrating the campus network.
York Technical College provides a wireless networking infrastructure for faculty and students. Access points are strategically placed throughout the campus.

In order to access the Internet with your personal computer and wireless interface card, you must have the correct authentication and encryption key. This information is provided in Campus Cruiser.

If a student has a Windows logon account in one of the academic domains, they will have access to the network resources related to their coursework. Otherwise, a generic login account is used that gives Internet access only.
