Work-based Learning (WBL)

Overview

Work-based Learning (WBL) integrates classroom study with hands-on experience. A student will have specific periods of employment. There are three types of WBL programs offered at the college.

It is the policy of York Technical College not to discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, religion, veteran status, national origin or disability in its educational programs, activities, or employment policies.

Cooperative Work Experience, Internship, and Apprenticeship

Credit students must have at least a 2.5 grade point average and twelve completed curriculum credits from York Technical College in order to qualify for Work-based Learning (WBL).

Continuing Education students must complete the entire program of study in order to qualify for WBL.

The Employer Guidebook to Work-based Learning contains valuable information about the program. Please read though the Guidebook to answer any questions that you may have about co-ops, internships, and apprenticeships.

For-profit employers, please view the link to ensure nonpaid internships meet all 6 criteria as outlined by the Department of Labor's Fair Labor Standards Act. http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.htm
